We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information. We aim to be clear and open about our data and security practices.

Where we ask you to provide us with any information by which you can be identified, you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement and in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018.

The data we collect

We collect information about you when you fill in an online form to:

• Register an organisation
• Register as a trustee
• Sign up for email updates
• Contact us

This information may include:

• Name, email, role, gender and ethnic group
• Organisation name, turnover, charity registration number and principal area of work

We also collect information on your website usage through cookies if your browser accepts them.

When you contact us by email ([email protected]) or on the phone, we may record this information on our customer relationship management system to help us process your request efficiently.

When you complete any questionnaire, no one will be able to see your personal data. As an organisation administrator, you will see the average from all of your organisation members but not individual responses.

One of the reasons DSC is creating The Governance App is to capture insights about governance in the sector, but no individuals or organisations can be identified during the process. DSC will see anonymised and aggregated results by registration categories only.

Consent to our use

By using the websites of The Governance App and DSC, you acknowledge that you have read the terms of this privacy policy and that you consent to the use of your business information and personal data for the purposes set out in this privacy policy.

If you do not wish to provide the information on the basis set out in this privacy policy, you should not provide your business details or personal data where requested by the websites of The Governance App and DSC. However, in that case, we regret that you will not be able to make any further use of some of the services offered by The Governance App and DSC’s websites.

Right to erasure

An individual has the right to erasure and DSC and The Governance App will erase your personal data under the following specific circumstances:

• Where personal data is no longer necessary in relation to the purpose for which it was originally collected and processed
• Where an individual withdraws consent
• When the individual objects to the processing and there is no overriding legitimate interest for continuing processing
• The personal data was unlawfully processed
• The personal data has to be erased to comply with a legal obligation
• The personal data is processed in relation to the offer of information society services to a child
